Thanksgiving Dinner in San Francisco

Open Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 26, 2026. We sell only one thing: Thanksgiving dinner. It comes with ham or turkey and 3 sides of your choice, plus bread and butter and pumpkin pie. Additions are allowed, but no substitutions. Side choices are turkey stuffing, mashed potatoes, broccoli, candied sweet potatoes, and green salad. We have no other meats, nor do we have sandwiches, $36. Dine-in 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. To-go window 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. No reservations needed.

Thanksgiving Day FAQ

What time do you open?

Tommy's will open at 11 a.m. for dine-in service. The to-go window will open at 11 a.m. as well.

Is there a line to open?

Usually, yes. But we are so much faster now that unless you have to eat at 11 a.m., I think there is no need to get here early and wait in line.

Do I need reservations?

No, Tommy's never does reservations. We are a first-come, first-served counter service restaurant. No worries though, you will get a table.

Can a large group sit together?

Parties of all sizes are welcome. Seating is family style, so you may be sitting next to some new friends. There is plenty of space.

What time should I arrive?

We have made great improvements in speeding up the line. Now the longest wait for dine-in is typically half an hour from arrival to eating. So if you want to eat at 6 p.m., you should arrive at 5:30 p.m. That is fast! At other restaurants, you are lucky if the server takes your order within 30 minutes of when you arrive. Wait times could be longer or shorter though, so please be flexible.

Hey, wait, what about green beans?

Yeah, no more green beans. They are always very hard to get for this day and are never the freshest. TBH, the old owners used canned. We changed to fresh and that wasn't an issue, but these days everything costs so much more, and green beans are taking the hit this year. Broccoli is easier to get and easier to prepare. So far, most of our regulars are liking the change.

How much is dinner?

$36 plus sales tax, no other fees or surcharges added to it.

How much are beverages?

Draft beers are $7 a pint for local craft beers, we have a few bottles and cans to choose from at $5 each, our cocktails start at $5, and wine is $4.50 a glass. These are the cash discounted prices. Credit card prices are 5% more to pay thier fees, we have an ATM inside as well.

Are you cash only?

No. We take all credit cards, tap payments, and such. No cash discount except at the bar.

What time do you close?

Tommy's will close when we run out of food or at 8 p.m., whichever comes first. The last person allowed in line for dine-in will be at 7 p.m.

The last person in line is at 7 p.m., but you close at 8 p.m.?

We allow enough time for the last person in line to get food and enjoy their time eating and drinking. So yes, we close at 8 p.m., but we will serve everyone who got in line up to that point until they are happy. Usually, we are done around 9 p.m.

What if I want to drink at the bar only?

Sorry, there is no bar seating on Thanksgiving. Everyone entering Tommy's on Thanksgiving Day will be charged the minimum dinner price.

Is the bar open?

Yes, it is open for diners. The bartenders will serve you at your table.

Can I bring my own wine?

Yes, you can. The wine fee is $10 per bottle.

Can my vegan friend bring his own food to dine with us?

Yes, you can. The fee for eating any outside food is $15. The fee for outside drinks is $2.

What if I don't want to eat, but want to sit with my friends and family?

Sorry, due to limited seating, all guests will be charged the minimum dinner price to enter Tommy's on Thanksgiving.

But I am vegetarian?

We have a vegetarian dinner option, but no special vegetarian dish. The vegetarian plate is 4 sides of your choice plus bread and dessert.

Is anything gluten-free?

Almost everything is gluten-free. The only items that are not are the bread and the stuffing, and pumpkin pie. We have Gluten free flourless chocolate cake available instead of pie. We are not a gluten-free kitchen though, so if you are very sensitive, please keep that in mind.

Any nuts or dairy?

There are no nuts in any of our Thanksgiving items. Dairy is in the mashed potatoes, the candied sweet potatoes, and the pumpkin pie.

But I am a child. Is there a children's dinner?

Sorry, no. There is only one size dinner. Children 5 and older will be charged the dinner price to enter.

What about the to-go window? When does that close?

The to-go window will stay open while supplies last or until 5 p.m. The last person in line will be at 5 p.m.

What is the to-go window?

The to-go window is a separate line where you can order individual turkey dinners packaged to go. See the to-go window menu.

Where is the to-go window?

The to-go window is on Geary Blvd, toward the rear of the building.

What is the wait time at the to-go window?

We added the to-go window because to-go orders take longer to fill than dine-in orders and were slowing down the dine-in line a lot. Now in its 9th year, it has become almost as popular as our dine-in service. We added staff to speed up this line. Our goal is to make this a fast process, maybe 20 minutes in line to order, tops. To do that, we are limiting the number of options at the to-go window. Please plan ahead, as wait times could be longer because demand is very high.

Can I substitute other sides for stuffing or mashed potatoes?

Sorry, no. The dinners are prepackaged for speed. The only option is turkey or ham with stuffing, mashed potatoes, and 1 more side of your choice.

Can I get other things at the to-go window?

Yes. À la carte items include turkey legs with gravy, extra bread and butter, extra gravy, and carved turkey or ham sold in 2-pound pre-packages. Individual sides available: stuffing, mashed potatoes, candied sweet potatoes, broccoli, or green salad.

What if I want something else to go?

Sorry, this year we are only allowing dine-in customers to enter and order. There are no other options for to-go orders. This is to keep all the lines moving fast.

Can I preorder individual dinners to go?

Sorry, no. Individual dinners are only sold at the to-go window on Thanksgiving Day. You can pre-order a dinner for 4 ($168) for pick-up on Thanksgiving Day. See our pre-order FAQ for how it works.

Will you run out of food?

This is a possibility. We have had enough food the last few years, and if all goes well, we will have plenty this year too. We sometimes run out of an item or two because we constantly cook everything fresh and by hand. There is a cook mixing gravy and mashing potatoes all day long.

Where can I park?

There is limited street parking. The closest parking garages are at the Apple Cinemas theater (old AMC) at O'Farrell and Van Ness, and there are two garages on Post on either side of Van Ness.

Will you do delivery on Thanksgiving?

Sorry, we will not offer delivery on Thanksgiving, including through any delivery app.

Are your hours different the rest of Thanksgiving week?

No. All other days that week, our hours stay the same.
