When will Tommy's go back to normal?

I want to thank everyone that has been regularly coming to Tommy’s since we reopened in March. We are very lucky to have so many regular guests. Many have been very generous to the staff during their visits. That generosity does help. The amount of total guests is down obviously. People think we’re back to normal in a couple days. But that couldn’t be further from the truth. We are glad the social distancing rules will go away and guests no longer must wear masks. We hope that brings more people out to eat. But those rule changes do not bring normal. There are many people still working from home and many businesses and offices shuttered in the city. The hospital next door limits visitors to 1 person per day. There still is a pandemic going on globally. We get very few international visitors, the TSA still reports air traffic 70% of 2019 numbers. Business travel is still down too. San Francisco still has no major conventions until September. And the movie theatre across the street still is not open at all. With all that, less people are coming through the door. Tommy’s is lucky, we are busier than most places around our area. We do get busier everyday. That has allowed us to expand some hours, I am hoping to be open 7 days a week soon. I know the prices are not like before, I am hoping to bring them down. We need our costs to go down first, beef prices have tripled. And we need our city to get back to business. Normal is not here yet. Tommy’s is here though, we are many peoples first stop out of quarantine and we feel lucky about that. Our bar is still one of the cheapest if not the cheapest bar to drink at.

Please come to Tommy’s, get your regular meal, hang out at the bar, and talk to a stranger. You can experience the little bit of normal that we do have.

Thanks. Tommy’s.

Yes Tommy's is Cash Only....again.

Hello, Tommy’s is back to cash only. We tried credit cards for a brief moment. One of the main reasons we resisted taking cards in the past was to keep the line going fast, you would be surprised how much slower the line moves due to card transactions. In the end we lost money, our sales didn’t change, in fact because it took longer to do the transaction our sales decreased during our peak hours. Not to mention we were paying fee’s to credit card companies. Another reason we didn’t bring the cards back is because we do not have the tech to go contactless for credit card payments. The cost of upgrading equipment is steep. During these times we need to cut every cent we can. So no cards, but then our ATM broke. The keypad stopped working; we lease the ATM it’s not ours. The company did not send a tech to fix it until last week. I tried to fix it myself, did the steps listed online, it required technology decades old to fix. I had to buy a SDSC under 2GB and format it with windows 7. No luck. The tech finally arrives and after two long nights of reboots and reloads the ATM is still not working. This is not convenient for you or me. I am hoping the ATM gets fixed tonight. I am also working on accepting credit cards again even without contactless payments, considering CDC has said covid is less likely transmitted by contact surfaces.

I am sorry for the inconvenience. But, you can actually pay for Tommy’s without cash now. Order from our website through ubereats, choose pickup and you can order, pick-up your food and eat here, we get all the proceeds that way, Uber doesn’t take a cut. Also you can order from Cheqout.com you can find on our order online page, that has no fees if you sign up and you can order cocktails too.

Hope to see you all soon,

Tommy’s Joynt.
