I want to thank everyone that has been regularly coming to Tommy’s since we reopened in March. We are very lucky to have so many regular guests. Many have been very generous to the staff during their visits. That generosity does help. The amount of total guests is down obviously. People think we’re back to normal in a couple days. But that couldn’t be further from the truth. We are glad the social distancing rules will go away and guests no longer must wear masks. We hope that brings more people out to eat. But those rule changes do not bring normal. There are many people still working from home and many businesses and offices shuttered in the city. The hospital next door limits visitors to 1 person per day. There still is a pandemic going on globally. We get very few international visitors, the TSA still reports air traffic 70% of 2019 numbers. Business travel is still down too. San Francisco still has no major conventions until September. And the movie theatre across the street still is not open at all. With all that, less people are coming through the door. Tommy’s is lucky, we are busier than most places around our area. We do get busier everyday. That has allowed us to expand some hours, I am hoping to be open 7 days a week soon. I know the prices are not like before, I am hoping to bring them down. We need our costs to go down first, beef prices have tripled. And we need our city to get back to business. Normal is not here yet. Tommy’s is here though, we are many peoples first stop out of quarantine and we feel lucky about that. Our bar is still one of the cheapest if not the cheapest bar to drink at.
Please come to Tommy’s, get your regular meal, hang out at the bar, and talk to a stranger. You can experience the little bit of normal that we do have.
Thanks. Tommy’s.
